Every time I travel I get to meet new people. The beauty is that they almost always influence me in some way or another. This is almost always 100% positive too which is great!!!
While traveling I try to engage in conversations with both friends in the area as well as random people. I especially like the service industry employees because they are the heart beat of our world. They get to meet people all the time, especially those in an airport or place of high traffic.
In this case I met a gentleman that worked as a shoe shine specialist in the DFW Airport. Boy, let me tell you we had a great conversation.
The biggest thing we talked about was the world and the things that are happening to it. We talked about something I want to get into later known as "the Gift Revolution" as well. This led to another conversation that I want to share with you first.
As we discussed things, I mentioned how I had been having a hard time seeing the positive in things which is unlike me. I am normally extremely positive and a very "glass is half full" kind of guy.
Well my new found friend decided to cut me off right there and tell me he is a "Glass is Full" kind of guy. I literally had to think about it for a second; but what an amazing idea.
One can still be positive; but also expect more!!!
My tired brain at that moment began to just go crazy with ideas of how true was this.
With that said, I wish to encourage you to start by having your Glass Half Full of positivity and to feel that power. What I want you to notice is that you are really, really thirsty. Thirsty for MORE!!!
I want you to imagine a world where you expect more. More from every service you get provided. When you go to an establishment you should get the best of the best service. You should not only expect it; but demand it!!!
Often I think that our world is completely filled with more and more people that don't ask for more. They settle for what is given to them even if they don't like it. I've seen it time and time again from myself as well as others. We have to draw a line some where.
Oh, but wait..... if we are to ask more of all the people around us.... we have to ask more from ourselves too!!! Oh man, I don't know this could be tough. Nah we can do it. You can do it. Expect more from yourself. Try harder. Do more. Expand your horizons. Read that new self help book. Do five more push ups. Call your friends or relatives that you have put off. Think long about who needs your help to fill their glass to the top.
If we all come together to do this, just think of the ripples in the pond that we live in. Just think of the changes that can happen to our world.
Ask of yourself first, and then of others and we can do it.
Give yourself the time to become better and then use that time and quality to better others lives.
You can do IT!
We can do IT!!
Lets make a change that will make history!!!

I see where you're going with this, but I can't help but think of Bruce Lee's musings in the Tao of Jeet Kune Do: The value of a glass is in it's emptiness. Empty your cup so that it can be filled; become devoid to receive the totality.
Just some food (drink?) for thought. ;)
I agree, first expect more from yourself. The only person who can define you is you. Once you have attained more you need to give more. And repeat. ;)
Abacus, I hear your (and Bruce's) words and am glad you listed this quote here. I believe that it applies perfectly to what Larry is saying. The part about "can be filled" appears to be the crux of the article no? And while the analogy fits, "the cup" is stagnant; while we are the "essence" of the water that is in constant cycles of "being filled and emptied." 2 more cents from a guy who knows nothing! : )
